As if this is even a question? As if our American has ever placed value
on a life based on their accomplishments or contributions to America. Imagine a
table with chairs that didn’t have your name on it. Would you feel comfortable sitting
at the table? Would you protest for your seat? Would you beg others to see that
you are tired of standing and was withering away due to a lack of seats. Would
you march? Would you fight? Is a riot needed? Perhaps a town hall meeting.
Would
you lose strength and faith as you watch others around faith due to limited seating?
Or are you giving up your seat because you have sat for long enough? Or do you
start to build your own table and chairs for those that are fainting?
No matter where you are, you must make a decision. That table for
some is our reality in America. We have done it all, but it is very clear that changing
America starts with the hearts and minds of those in powerful positions, legislators,
and the everyday person. It’s our responsibility now more than ever to see
beyond the accomplishments, degrees, purpose and contributions and see the
human. The living, breathing, bleeding, heart beating human. There is no accomplishment
of one over another that makes a live worth taking.
So, as you go through your daily routines, please remember black
lives matter because black lives are in an America that was not build for them
but build on them. Black lives matter because black lives matter.
Until next time,
Sincerely, Shameless
